Those are some good bucks! I got a little one the last day of the rifle hunt. I've always heard "shoot it in the head to save the meat". Not such a good idea at close range I found out, that was just nasty. Wonderful jerky though.

Yea, at close range it can be quite a mess, The neck shot might be a better choice, if you don't eat the neck, but it is a smaller target.
