launching & beaching new toon

Hey all,
anyone have any tips on launching my great new toon? Is it as simple as backing into the seat and sitting down like with a float tube? I cant wait to get it in the water. Where is the FG? Hope she is ok.

Yes, Its pretty similar to a tube, load up your toon with your gear step in your toon, and slowly back in the water. When you to a depth were your feet arent touching start rowing out to were you wana fish.

Easy as pie launching a pontoon. Here's a few things to remember.

1. If it's windy DON'T let go of your boat when it is not beached, it can blow away before you know it.

2. Don't put your fins on until you are sitting on your pontoon.

3. Get some rod holders on that thing.

When I come in, I personally like to come into shore and run with the shore till I can touch bottom with ease. I then take my flippers off and hang them on the ores or throw them on the boat. I then stand up and grab the front tips of my Pontoon and pull it to shore nose first. Reason for this? I came in rear first once, stood up and went to walk around my boat to get to shore and found a HOLE![mad]

Plus I run a motor most of the time and it is easier to lift the motor along with pull it up on the shore.

[size 3]A few years ago, I acquired a enclosed trailer to carry my toons, and so if possible, I launch from a boat ramp. This makes it easy, and most of all, very clean (no muddy shore line).[/size]

[size 3]I go in by motor, and when I get close, I row forward into shore. Only put on and take off fins while seated in the toon.[/size]

I fell in a hole when wading once. I was sooo graceful.[blush][blush]. never did recover everything that come off of me. my wife said it was one of my finest moments[crazy][crazy].

Ya everybody has there own technique but for the most part you'll just want to get comfortable with tooning you'll see what easiest for you.

As far as rod holders go yes you can buy them there kinda pricey or you can make your own. Theres tons of posts on the board of people making them out of PVC Pipe and U bolts. If you have a Dremel or similar tool you can make some real nice accessories,

also get some nylon rope and a anchor will help on those windy days at strawberry.

Oh and dont forget a PFD ( personal flotation device ) I my self like the c02 inflatable kind its the law and not to mention it could save your life []

Oh one last thing not necessary but I picked up some velcro strips, had the wifey sew them to about 10 feet of nylon rope, makes for cheap rod leashes. Or you can buy them at cabelas
