Its a stand-alone I put out in the yard. It was supplied to me, a plastic cone shape cup, by my yard service. It seems to agree with the totals I get here in N Ogden

Interesting, what is the diameter of the top of the cup? I'm guessing the bottom has a gage, so you can tell how much it rained?

This recent storm from late Wednesday to Thursday put just over .9" yet under 1.0" in my yard.

That's great, I'd much rather see rain than snow but from what the weather folks are saying we have received above average rainfall for this month. Makes me wonder what next month will bring. By the way, if you planted a garden this year, have you pull it up yet?

Last year I planted cantaloupes, got a few nice melons. This year I did melons again growing honeydews and watermelons. The dews did ok with a few nice sizes sweet ones, but the w-melons were disappointing, got about 4 not very big but the largest out of the crop. The rest were not good enough to harvest. The hard 3" rain we got back in Sept damaged the w-melon crop, so I pulled all plants about 2weeks later.

Don't feel bad about your watermelon, mine had the same outcome, don't think I'll try anything them again. I got a could bigger than this one but not much bigger
