There's a lot of room for personal preference here....the main thing (esp. for Kokes) is that you want some 'give' in your set up, as their mouth cartilage is softer than some other species....this can be accomplished with special kokanee rods ( plenty of tip bend), bungee snubbers (reduces the shock of a hard hit), or the line itself, if you're using a line with some give......My mainline is 12 lb mono (lots of quality brands out there) and like BLFG, I also use 10 lb fluorocarbon for my 6' leader......this works well for me at Strawberry, Flaming Gorge, or our other local reservoirs.....If I was trolling for larger macs, I would certainly beef up my gear.....Guluk.....
