New reel with penn rod

I'm not expert on bass fishing so hopefully one of the mods on this board can give you a better answer but IMO, you could use that setup for catching bass. A better question might be, if it would be an ideal setup for that type of fishing and the answer would be no. From what I have read and seen, most bass anglers use a baitcaster reel for that type of fishing. Hope that helps.
