I dont believe powerbait would be on the market if the stuff was even slighly detrimental to the water . . and that would be crazy for them to sell it if it ruined the water . . . thus reducing/ending their market share . .
you have definitely have been mis-informed . . . powerbait does not hurt the water , , , the only thing bad about powerbait according to some is that you catch too many fish with it and they cant keep up with demand . . .
i dont know about the lure only places . . . i guess there's other lakes around kolob and minersville you can fish any way you want . . .but they're still a drive for most families, me i'll drive hundreds of miles for the chance to catch fish . . . but when the closest place to you is lures only, and you want to take your 3, 5 and 7 yr olds out fishing, kolob or minersville would be a terrible choice . . .
i dont think kolob is a good choice for lures only, too many people come to the national park to shove a NO BAIT sign in their face once they get there . . . you know alot of people go fishing once or twice a year on vacation . . . to get to kolob after paying all the money and waiting in line to get thru the gate (and buying your non-resident licenses), then to get to the lake with your poles and worms, and to have mr fish cop there inspecting your tacklebox and writing tickets is just stupid . . .
