5 miles might be a little exaggerated but under prime conditions, i think 3 is not out of the question, The problem is waiting them out. My uncle has been calling for some 35 years and he is pretty good at it. I wish he had more time to spend down here so he could show me some tricks of the trade. The last time he went out was 1/18 somewhere in the desert west of Delta and they(2 of them) shot 8 dogs, missed 1, saw 4 others, and called in a lion and 8 short tails. The last trip to Nevada they killed almost 40 dogs, 3 shorties and a handfull of badgers. They don't mess around. They together have 8 or 10 digital callers, 50+ hand calls, 4 sets of ghilli(sp?) suits, night vision(3rd gen.) and too many specialty rifles to count. The funny thing is he is now addicted to shooting them with his Benelli inside 40 yards! I saw one of his videos and it makes you grab your chair! What a rush it would be. Man, i gotta get out and kill something![sly]
