It sounds a bit like Ford vs Chevy. Having looked at many of the tubes in the same price range, I'd say that most at the same price point are going to give you a relatively similar experience, keeping in mind the original pricing and not necessarily the sale price. Purely from MY perspective (with the disclaimer that I consider myself a well versed outdoorsman but a neophyte tuber), getting a great deal on a tube of that quality is a no-brainer. As has been stated before in this thread and others, often times people will be all excited about their new hobby and then realize it's not for them or they realize the need something bigger, drier, faster, lighter, or whatever else one considers an important attribute. I think getting a cheap or low quality tube is a mistake, but certainly for a first foray in to tubing, this tube is an excellent choice.
As everyone has stated, you need to make sure you take every precaution and safety measure possible to minimize risk, a PFD being quite essential to at least have with you on the water. I know I had a hard time thinking about spending $300-$400 for a first tube without any practical experience to assist in picking one out for my needs.
