I just got an Alvey 600BC xl, and the look of it scares the hell out of me. I will be making a 7 foot rod for boat use and a 9-10' surf rod. I know the reel should sit low to the butt and the first guide half way up the rod. Any other tips?<br><br>Tight lines at sea, screamin kids at home!
