Lake Mohave 02-21-12

Hit up Mohave today with my dad and daughter. Got caught about mid lake when the winds came up on us just about lunch time and had one heck of a fun and wet time getting back to the north but in the end worth it since I continued north and got up into the river and out of the winds and got into some fish. Some great catches too. Several really stout Small Mouths and a bonus 7lb Striper (we were in coves looking for Small and Large mouths). All in all a great day and good way to send my dad off back to the snow and chilly weather in Montana (he does have a sun burn to show off back home [cool] )

Dude too cool! Used to windsurf the place years ago, wish I would have brought the rods along for the no wind days.

Everytime I see these Mohave reports I get jealous I didn't try fishing it!

Really chunky smallmouth. Nice and cranking 12 to 18 ft I see. Guess I'm going to have to go now.

Bomber switchbacks and Strike King series 6 cranks. More or less anything that can get down in the 15-20 foot range.

Though it doesn't really look like it in the pictures the one my dad is holding is the bigger. I was stoked catching fish like that Tuesday. My daughter lost another just like those two right at the boat. Seen it roll on the surface and gone. She does pretty good casting, retrieving, etc but her hook set needs a pretty serious makeover...
