Is it just me, or are there fewer boats on Strawberry lately? We fished today from 7:30 to 11:30 and there were maybe 8 boats out in the greater “triangle” area. It doesn't hurt my feelings. Beats walking across the boats in July. When We left at 11:30 there were more wave runners on the water than boats???
Fishing wasnt too bad. Kokes were from 35’ to 45’ but they are turning pink.
Colors that worked for us were the usual pinks and oranges. Nothing special.

I think it's just the normal seasonal change...doesn't hurt my feelings either, as I hope to hit it a few more times also....couple other thoughts: getting kids ready for school, thinking about football, different hunts coming up soon, and the overall kokanee action isn't near what it was last year, IMO....but I Shall Return, because I think there's a few left for me, somewhere out there....Guluk...

School is starting for those kids for the most part. This will slow the week day traffic but there will couple of weekends that may get somewhat busy. Also don't forget the hunting season is here too. We older geezers will enjoy the wide open spaces. [bobhappy]

We've been up a number of times on the weekday, and other than July 4 (which was crazy), it seems there are fewer boats. I was especially surprised on Pioneer Day, when it was almost deserted.

I'm wondering if because Jordanelle is so much closer for the SLC crowd and (based on the reports) has had good Kokanee fishing, that folks are heading there instead of making the drive up Daniel's Canyon.

I also wonder if the pricing and attitude of the outfit that controls the boat launches and campgrounds has made people look else where. My experience with the folks at the state parks is much more positive.

Maybe people are sick of paying through the nose to launch and park there and are going to other waters that offer the same fishing opportunity at less cost !!! What is it now, about 15.00 to launch ??

Interesting -- you posted just as I was editing my comment to note my very negative experiences with Utah Recreation Company while at Strawberry.

I fished both Strawberry and SC today, still $9 to launch at Strawberry.
Got my butt kicked on big kokes, caught a couple shakers and about 20 cutts.
No bows.

I told a friend of mine I'd take him out fishing next week. I usually stay away from strawberry myself this time of year, as I feel like the water gets too warm. However I've heard people are still catching cutthroats. Do you think Strawberry trout fishing will still be ok next week, or should I retreat to higher elevations till the fall arrives?

You can still catch a pile of small cutts at the Berry. Just use regular koke gear and you will catch them.

We stayed at strawberry this last week and it cost us 38dollars for full hook up plus 9 bucks for the side by side each day. Left this morning and it was camp ground full and 18 boats in the triangle. Mor people than live in my town.

Two of us caught 65 (should have been many more) cutthroats, vertically jigging, on Wednesday. We caught about 6 over the slot.

We where there Friday and could hardly even buy a bite. Everyone we talked to were having the same luck. We fished the Meadows area and only boated 6 fish. We fished from 6:30 til 11:00 and decided to call it a day. We trolled, vertical fished (my favorite), tried just drifting with a worm. Nothing. What part of the like were you fishing.

A ton of sirens going up Daniels Canyon Saturday afternoon. With the pile of traffic coming out a while later would make me think that there was another bar crash somewhere.
