HA69 and I fished strawberry today from 7:00am-8:30pm. The weather was great, not too cold in the morning and the water was smooth most of the day except a slight breeze in the afternoon. The fishing was fantastic, it was the best day we have ever had. The fishing was non stop except for a couple hours in the afternoon we boated over 80 fish and that is most likely an understatment. All but a couple fish where caught jigging with various jiggs. HA69 caught a couple rainbows and I caught a 22" and a 26" cutt. We boated several 19" and 20" cutts. All fish where released.

The first picture is a cutt that has a damaged back. The second picture is a cutt that was caught on one of nomoose crawdad jiggs, those jiggs worked great today. The forth picture is the 22" cutt that I caught. The fifth & sixth picture is the 24" cutt that I caught.

I'm not a biologist, but I wonder if that fish with the messed up back may have whirling disease?

Our first thoughts where that the fish had whirling disease but we where not sure.
If a fish does have whirling disease does the back hook to the side? This fish its back close to the tail hooked downward.

Man you guys rock!!! Sounds like it was an awesome day on the water. Thanks for the report, and sharing the pics.
I highly doubt a fish of that size has whirling disease. It usually kills them when they are much smaller, like 6-8 inches. It was probabaly just a congenital defect.

Awesome Trip Mike . Fishing was a blast with some nice hogs . Can't think of a better way to spend sunrise to sunset . I nailed a nice 20" cutt as soon as I boarded the boat on my first cast at the marina . Most fish run in the 18" to 20" but nice and fat . I think the fish count could of been at least 100 , but too hard to keep track . LOL Man , I sleep good last night .

Sorry to hear that you had no luck . Most fish we caught were in 40' of water away from shore for us , but early morning and evening they seemed to be closer to shore . The dam area usually is good bet . Did you see any bright red Kokes close to shore there ?

NO the only kokes we saw were at the visitors station.They said its still to soon for them to start showing up.A little colder weather should do it they said.
